Employment History

Hello! I hope you enjoy reading some of the details of my work experience.
I started working at SiriusXM in January of 2016, which was one of the most interesting experiences in my career. I went for the interview, did a test, and met with a bunch of future co-workers. On the way out I received a call from HR asking me to go back to her office where they immediately offered me the job. It was shocking and incredible!
As you may know, they are a broadcasting company which provides satellite and internet radio. I worked in Digital Experience where our team maintaned the website as well as some internal tools.
My initial role was a Front-end Developer and about two years later I was promoted to Senior Developer. My role and responsibility grew as I began to help more on the back-end. It was fun learning about the system, getting my hands dirty with Java, and help catapult our code into a new era. I pushed to modularize our templates, making it easier to build what we needed both on the front and back ends. Around this time the website was also redesigned and I played a key role in bringing the new design to life.
Once again, about two years after that, I was promoted to Lead Software Engineer. My biggest accomplishment since then was working with the team to migrate from Oracle WCS to Contentful. I brough NextJS, a React framework, into the picture. Our website's peformance improved. Our lighthouse score skyrocketed into the green. Best of all, everyone was happy.
During my time at SiriusXM I've had to interview potential candidates, assist in planning projects, coordinate with multiple departments, and assign tasks to get projects completed. I've learned about myself that what I enjoyed about development was seeing the completed project. The experience I've had with managing projects has guided me towards a new career path.
A lesser known company, Tag Worldwide provided marketing and production solutions to clients. Before working here, as you'll see below, I was working at Time Inc. During a company reorganization, Time Inc. hired Tag Worldwide to do take over the work that our team had been doing. As part of the agreement, Time Inc. laid us off and Tag Worldwide hired us.
During and after the transition I was a key player in migrating our front-end code as well as bringing the new development team up to speed. I trained team members in New York, West Virginia, and India making us one cohesive team. I also worked with management to institute a new workflow for the entire department to improve efficiency.
My time here was brief, only one year, but it was an experience that I will never forget.
Ah my very first web development job. Before this I had been practicing at home. I created web page designs in Photoshop and then wrote the code to bring those pages to life. Little did I know that this skill would land me my very first job.
Everyone is probably familiar with Time Inc. They owned magazine brands such as Time, Sports Illustrated, Real Simple, and countless more. I never would have expected to work in the magazine industry, but my resume went out everywhere and I got a call.
During the interview process I had to take a Photoshop design and create a web page out of it. My soon-to-be manager was impressed at how quickly I was able to complete it. I was hired instantly.
During my time here I improved our HTML email compatibility by using tools like Litmus and a lot of research. I brought the GreenSock library to the team, which allowed us to replace the dying Flash banners we used to see everywhere. We were among the first to create animated HTMl5 banners that were used as ads across the web. I almost modularized our pages, which were all very similar. We created marketing forms for people to subscribe to Time's magazines. The modules I created allowed me to increase development speed for myself as well as the overseas team I was leading.
I look upon this time with great nostalgia. We were truly a family and I had an amazing time.
